Amazing tin depicting the The Saturday Evening Post Cover from 1952. Promotional tin from The Curtis Publishing Co. The graphics is a humorous caricature by Stevan Dohanos that was featured on the cover of the Saturday Evening Post on December 13, 1952. It is also known as the "Bus Stop at Christmas". The rectangular tin shows a group of everyday people waiting at a bus stop during the 1950's. Rare to find this illustration on a rectangular tin with handles. Wonderful addition to a tin collection or display at your home/business or give it as a great gift - the options are endless.
Note:
Many times the art is mistakenly attributed to Norman Rockwell. Dohanos was another Saturday Evening Post artist, who drew more than 100 covers for The Post. His work tends to lend itself to the common frailties of human life as displayed in this humorous caricature of a crowd of children, working men, ladies, senior lady & gentlemen, with their Christmas packages, waiting at a bus stop.
Although a scene from an era gone by, "Bus Stop" (the line, the waiting, no bus - happens every Christmas) reminds us of the waiting for the bus, the train, or the
plane.
